According to expert analysis, the tragic fate of the five individuals aboard the OceanGate submersible was likely known to them in the moments leading up to the catastrophic implosion. The revelation comes from esteemed Spanish engineer and underwater specialist José Luis Martín, who drew a chilling parallel between the unfolding events and a scene from a horror movie.
Martín, shedding light on the final moments of the ill-fated submersible named Titan, which met its demise on June 18 during a dive to the Titanic shipwreck, presented a detailed timeline. Within a mere two hours into the dive, an unfortunate electrical malfunction occurred during the controlled descent, rendering the craft devoid of thrust. This unexpected failure, as Martín explained to the Spanish news outlet NIUS and subsequently reported by the English language Diario AS, had devastating consequences.
The absence of thrust in such a critical environment, compounded by the weight of the passengers and the pilot, totaling approximately 400 kilograms and concentrated towards the front end in close proximity to the view port, severely disrupted the Titan's longitudinal stability. This destabilizing force ultimately set in motion a chain of events that culminated in the vessel's eventual implosion.
