On Thursday evening, Former President Donald Trump voluntarily surrendered himself at Fulton County Jail to undergo booking on felony charges related to his alleged involvement in attempting to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
In a motorcade reminiscent of his presidential days, Trump arrived at the jail around 7:30 p.m. ET. Jail records indicate that he underwent booking procedures, including fingerprinting and mugshot photography, promptly upon arrival. Subsequently, he was swiftly released, completing the entire process within approximately 20 minutes.
Earlier in the day, Trump, aged 77, announced his impending arrest on his social media platform, Truth Social. He expressed his intention to "get ARRESTED by a Radical Left, Lowlife District Attorney, Fani Willis" in Atlanta, Georgia, referencing the arrest scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The former president also made exaggerated claims about Atlanta's crime rate in his post.
Departing from his summer residence in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump departed shortly before 4 p.m. ET via his private plane, which touched down at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He displayed a thumbs-up gesture to the cameras upon disembarking.
Upon his arrival at the jail, Trump underwent processing and was then released as part of a bond agreement amounting to $200,000. His legal team had finalized this agreement with Willis' office earlier in the week. Jail records indicate that Trump's height was listed as 6'3", and his weight as 215 lbs., potentially marking a 29-lb. difference from his last recorded weight during his White House tenure in 2020. However, the source of this information remains uncertain, as it was available online before Trump's arrival at the jail.
