Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted in the 2020 murder of George Floyd, has reportedly been stabbed in a federal prison. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, according to an anonymous source cited by the Associated Press. While the Federal Bureau of Prisons did confirm an attack on a prisoner at the facility, the identity of the victim was not disclosed.

The assault took place around 12:30 pm local time, prompting prison staff to administer "life-saving measures" to the injured individual before transferring them to a hospital. Details regarding Chauvin's current condition remain undisclosed. Chauvin is currently serving dual sentences: a 22-and-a-half-year term in Minnesota for second-degree murder and a 21-year federal sentence for violating George Floyd's civil rights.
