Armed Robbers Prey on DC Residents' $1000 Canada Goose Coats — Told to Wear AirTags

In a recent warning issued by Washington DC police, residents are being alerted to a concerning trend of armed robbers targeting and stealing high-value winter coats in broad daylight. Over a 48-hour period, multiple individuals fell victim to armed thieves who forcibly took their Canada Goose and Moncler jackets.

According to law enforcement, the modus operandi involves three to four masked perpetrators dressed in dark clothing approaching victims. At gunpoint, the assailants demand not only the victims' jackets but also other personal items before swiftly fleeing the scene in a getaway car.

One such incident occurred in Georgetown, where a woman narrowly escaped having her Canada Goose jacket stolen. Recounting the ordeal, she mentioned that a group of girls noticed her expensive outerwear and attempted to snatch it. Reacting quickly, the woman threw her coffee cup aside as a distraction, expressing a deliberate intent not to harm anyone. The tactic worked, providing her with the opportunity to escape the situation unharmed.

These incidents highlight a concerning pattern of targeted theft, prompting increased vigilance among residents and renewed efforts from law enforcement to apprehend those responsible.
