Federal agents executed search warrants on homes linked to Sean "Diddy" Combs in both Miami and Los Angeles as part of a probe into allegations involving sex trafficking, drugs, and firearms. The Department of Homeland Security carried out the operations under the authority of New York federal court warrants. Although it remains uncertain if Combs is directly targeted by the investigation, the music mogul has recently faced multiple sexual assault lawsuits. The link between these legal actions and the raids has not been established. Combs' spokesperson has yet to issue a response to inquiries about the raids.
Dramatic events unfolded as the Key Bridge in Baltimore suffered a catastrophic failure, collapsing into the water below after a collision with the cargo ship Dali. The incident, captured in harrowing footage, resulted in five vehicles plunging into the icy 47F waters and left six construction workers unaccounted for. Authorities are now deploying sonar equipment in a desperate search for the missing crew members amid the wreckage. The disaster prompted Governor Wes Moore to declare a state of emergency early Tuesday, highlighting the severity of the situation following the bridge's collapse around 1:30 am. The collision with the Singaporean-flagged vessel occurred just 20 minutes after it embarked on its voyage, impacting one of the bridge's support columns.
The United Kingdom court has postponed its decision on Julian Assange's potential extradition to the United States, allowing the US three weeks to assure that Assange, if extradited and convicted, will not face the death penalty. This delay is part of the ongoing legal proceedings concerning Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, who is accused by US authorities of putting lives at risk by releasing a vast number of classified documents. His defense argues that the extradition effort is an act of "state retaliation" against him. In a recent ruling, High Court Justices Dame Victoria Sharp and Mr. Justice Johnson have outlined that Assange can present an appeal on three specific conditions, pending the US government's assurances. These conditions include the protection of Assange under the First Amendment, assurance that his trial will not be influenced by his nationality, and a guarantee that he will not face the death penalty if found guilty. The US now has a three-week window to provide these assurances, with a possible final hearing on the matter scheduled for May 20.
