Studies suggest that as many as half of the individuals who experience cannabis-induced psychosis may eventually develop schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Young adults and teenagers are particularly vulnerable, as emphasized by Thurstone. "The studies that we have so far clearly indicate that the risk for psychosis is dose dependent," he explained. "The more marijuana someone is exposed to, especially during adolescence, the greater the risk of developing psychosis, schizophrenia, and severe mental illness." This underscores the importance of awareness and caution regarding the use of high-potency cannabis products, particularly among younger populations.
