🚨Atlanta Police Release Bodycam Footage of Douglas County Probate Judge's Arrest Outside Nightclub

Atlanta police have released bodycam footage capturing the arrest of Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson, who allegedly struck an officer outside the Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge early Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 3:18 a.m. when an Atlanta police officer, working an approved extra job at the nightclub, responded to a commotion. According to the department, the officer encountered security escorting a woman out of the venue and attempted to de-escalate the situation. At this point, Peterson, identified as the 38-year-old judge, reportedly rushed towards the scene, screaming at the security guard and the officer.

The bodycam footage shows Peterson pushing the officer in the chest while yelling, "Let her *** go." Despite attempts to assist the female being escorted out, Peterson allegedly continued to interfere, pushing the officer again before being taken into custody.

Peterson, identified as a Democrat judge, was uncooperative and refused to provide her identity, according to police reports. The footage reveals Peterson cursing at the officer, saying, "Don’t *** touch me," and "Shut the *** up," while sitting handcuffed in the back of a police car.

Upon identifying Peterson, the officer secured arrest warrants for simple battery against a police officer and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Peterson was subsequently taken to the Fulton County Jail for processing without further incident.

Peterson's lawyer, Fulton County Commissioner Marvin Arrington Jr., held a press conference with her on Friday, defending her actions. Arrington stated that Peterson was intervening to help a woman, Alexandria Love, who was being attacked by an unknown man outside the lounge. Love corroborated this account, claiming Peterson was the only one who helped her during the attack.

Arrington called for the release of the lounge's surveillance footage, arguing that eyewitnesses and video evidence would show that Peterson should not have been arrested.

Peterson, who made headlines after becoming a judge in 2020, has previously faced scrutiny. In April, a Judicial Qualifications Commission panel found her guilty of "systemic incompetence" and recommended her removal from office. The panel's findings included multiple instances of failing to perform her duties, ignoring courthouse rules, abusing personnel, and posting inappropriately on social media. The Georgia Supreme Court will ultimately decide her fate as a judge.
