▣ Kamala Harris's Radical Positions Resurface Amid Efforts to Recast Her Image
As efforts intensify to rebrand Vice President Kamala Harris as a moderate Democrat, scrutiny of her public record reveals a history of radical positions. Despite attempts to quietly scrub her past stances, Harris has consistently supported policies far from the center.
Harris has previously advocated for abolishing ICE, comparing the agency to the KKK, and has supported allowing criminals, including the Boston Marathon bomber and rapists, to vote. She has also called for a ban on fracking and offshore drilling, defunding the police, providing taxpayer-subsidized healthcare to illegal immigrants, and eliminating private health insurance. During a 2020 Democratic primary debate, Harris stated she would ban the importation of assault weapons by executive order if elected president.
In addition to her stance on firearms, Harris pledged to reinstate DACA protections and reverse other Trump-era immigration policies. She has emphasized the need for racial equity, which endorses equality of outcomes over equality of opportunity. Her record includes supporting a bail fund for 2020 rioters, prioritizing Ukraine's borders over her assigned task of handling the U.S. border crisis, and enabling the Jussie Smollett race hoax by calling it an "attempted modern-day lynching" without apologizing after Smollett's conviction. As a senator, Harris co-sponsored legislation to codify abortion through all nine months of pregnancy and faced criticism for her anti-Catholic views, notably against U.S. District Court nominee Brian Buescher.
Despite these positions, Harris's popularity remains low, with recent discussions highlighting her potential to drag down President Biden's administration due to her unpopularity.
