Former President Donald Trump announced late Friday night that he has accepted an offer from Fox News to debate Vice President Kamala Harris in September. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the debate would take place in Pennsylvania on September 4 and would be moderated by Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.

Harris has insisted that Trump adhere to the originally scheduled debate date of September 10 on ABC News, which was initially set to feature Trump and President Biden. Following Biden’s withdrawal from the race and Harris’s subsequent nomination as the Democratic candidate, Trump has expressed concerns about the fairness of the situation.

In his announcement, Trump claimed that his ongoing litigation against ABC and anchor George Stephanopoulos has created a “conflict of interest” with the network. He also criticized the debate process, saying, "I spent Hundreds of Millions of Dollars, Time, and Effort fighting Joe, and when I won the Debate, they threw a new Candidate into the ring. Not fair, but it is what it is! Nevertheless, different Candidate or not, their bad Policies are the same, and this will be strongly revealed at the September 4th Debate.”

Trump added that the rules for the upcoming debate would be similar to those from his previous debates with Biden but emphasized that this event would feature “A FULL ARENA AUDIENCE” at a venue yet to be announced.

Harris’s campaign has remained firm on the September 10 date, with campaign communications director Michael Tyler telling Newsweek, “We’re happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to. Mr. Anytime, anywhere, anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th.”

In response, Trump questioned Harris’s capability, saying, “I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all.”

Harris officially secured the Democratic nomination on Friday, despite not winning a primary. She publicly taunted Trump at a campaign event on Tuesday for backing out of the September 10 debate, challenging him to face her directly on the debate stage.
