In a bold move last week, President Trump signed multiple executive orders targeting the dismantling of the federal government’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, marking a significant shift in federal policy and sending a strong message against what he views as destructive and inefficient initiatives. By slashing DEI requirements across federal agencies, the military, and other public institutions, Trump aims to restore what he calls “American ingenuity, strength, and excellence,” moving away from practices he labels as “dangerous, demeaning, and immoral.”

DEI policies, which gained traction under the Biden administration, were designed to promote diversity and representation in hiring practices and workplace dynamics. But, according to Trump and his supporters, these policies have instead created division, lowered performance standards, and fostered an anti-American narrative. The president’s reforms extend to federal hiring practices, military policies, and transportation systems, where DEI guidelines had reportedly compromised safety and performance in favor of superficial measures of inclusivity.
