Lee Zeldin, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), revealed that his team uncovered a shocking misuse of taxpayer funds under the Biden administration, with approximately $20 billion parked at an outside financial institution in a rushed attempt to allocate climate change funds before President Trump’s return to office. This revelation follows a December Project Veritas undercover video in which EPA advisor Brent Efron admitted the agency deliberately fast-tracked billions in taxpayer dollars to environmental projects, including those originally intended for a Kamala Harris administration, in an effort to shield them from Republican oversight. Efron described the strategy as an “insurance policy against Trump winning,” acknowledging that funds were funneled to nonprofits and outside entities to make them less vulnerable to a Republican administration reversing course. According to Zeldin, the $20 billion in question was awarded to just eight entities, with nearly $7 billion sent to the Climate United Fund, allowing these organizations to distribute funds at their discretion with minimal transparency. Calling the scheme unprecedented in EPA history, Zeldin vowed a full investigation, referring the matter to the inspector general’s office and working with the Justice Department to ensure full accountability, stating that the financial agent agreement with the bank must be terminated and all misallocated funds immediately recovered.
