He lives in a zip code where nothing costs money and everything is theoretical but he now imagines himself a kingmaker for twenty twenty eight a political savior auditioning for a role nobody cast him in.
At sixty four Clooney still treats charisma like policy. We hear he is already hosting closed door donor calls in Los Angeles and New York because he believes the Democrats are broken and that star power can fix what bad leadership created. That might work on an awards night but not in Michigan or Pennsylvania where people worry about grocery bills not dinner parties. Yet that is the Democratic mistake again and again. They mistake applause for approval and influencers for leaders.
President Trump speaks the language Democrats forgot. He talks about border security energy jobs and the dignity of work. He does not jet back to Malibu after a photo op. Clooney meanwhile treats politics like a costume. Democrats have become fluent in hashtags and celebrity endorsements and deaf to the voices of Kenosha or Scranton. They talk about the working class while hiding from it.
Clooney’s rumored Beverly Hills fundraiser will draw cameras donors and social media buzz. What it will not do is flip a single vote in Wisconsin. Hollywood money cannot buy authenticity. And voters know the truth. They were safer and stronger under Trump. Clooney may chase power but America has already chosen its fighter Donald J. Trump.
