Mark my words. The next phase of the pursuit of Candace Owens will not be another debate, another interview or another attempt to rebut her arguments. It will be an effort to shut her down, à la Alex Jones. Alex Jones is no longer simply a person. He has become a verb. To "Alex Jones" someone is to seek not merely to defeat that person's ideas, but to isolate, financially cripple and ultimately remove that voice from the public square.
Watch carefully. The focus will become less about whether Candace is right or wrong and more about portraying her as uniquely dangerous, irresponsible or beyond the pale. Once that narrative is accepted, extraordinary measures become easier to justify. The conversation shifts from answering speech to eliminating the speaker.
Equally striking is the role played by individuals who once celebrated skepticism, questioned official narratives and proudly embraced the label of "conspiracy theorist" when it suited their purposes. Many of those same voices now appear eager to condemn Candace for doing precisely what they once applauded: asking uncomfortable questions and refusing to accept prevailing narratives without scrutiny.
Why the sudden transformation? Some observers believe financial incentives are at work. Others think it is simple tribalism, the desire to be on what they perceive as the winning side of an online movement. Still others see it as reputation management, where distancing oneself from controversial figures becomes more valuable than intellectual consistency. Whatever the explanation, the result is the same.
File this away, my friends. Remember it when the rhetoric escalates from criticism to demands for deplatforming, financial pressure and professional isolation. Whether or not that prediction proves correct, the pattern is one worth watching closely. The most consequential battles over speech are often fought not by banning ideas outright, but by making certain people too costly, too controversial or too dangerous for anyone else to hear.
