Steven Jones is being held on a $2 million bond at the Coconino County jail. A grand jury indicted him on first-degree murder and six counts of aggravated assault.
Jones told authorities he was defending himself when he fatally shot Colin Brough on Oct. 9 and injured three other university students. Prosecutors say Jones was the aggressor.Jones' attorney, Burges McCowan, argues in a motion submitted this week that his client has no criminal history and no desire to flee. He's asking a judge to release Jones to his parents in Maricopa County or reduce the bond amount.
