CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI) -The Old Daniel Boone Bridge over the Missouri River met an explosive ending on Thursday Feb. 18, 2016 in Chesterfield.
MoDOT closed all lanes of I-64/40 between Boone’s Crossing and Route K around 9 a.m. The interstate will reopen once debris is removed from the roadway.
The demolition was performed by the same company that brought down the old Blanchette and Chain of Rocks Bridges.
During the Chain of Rocks Bridge explosion last year, parts of the old bridge ended up on the new bridge causing quite a bit of damage.
Seismic monitors were set up on the bridges next to the old Boone Bridge to detect any damage done to the new bridge. It was part one of a two-part process to take the entire bridge down.
