18:20Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump will be in Texas on Thursday to visit the U.S. border with Mexico and make his case for a border wall. His trip will begin with a meeting with border agents on the ground in McAllen.
Mayor Jim Darling of McAllen is scheduled to greet the President at the airport when he arrives at around 1 p.m. Thursday. The mayor believes the wall is not a "one size fits all" method to protect the border, so he says he hopes the President will see that for himself.
"We think it’s an honor to have the President visit," says Mayor Darling. "We know he’s here for business and everything but we’re excited as a community to welcome the President."
"We want him to see what the wall looks like and the river and the challenges of building a wall to provide protection," adds Darling.
For the most part, McAllen residents say they don't believe the border wall is necessary, but some say it is an option worth considering.
