11:27Now PlayingThe westbound lanes of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge are closed as of 4:16 p.m. Thursday as debris has again fallen from the bridge's upper deck, the California Highway Patrol and Marin County Sheriff's officials reported.
The no. 1 lanes in both directions of the bridge, also part of Interstate Highway 580, had reopened at 3:05 p.m. until the concrete wsa reported falling again, according to CHP.
The golf ball-sized chunks that fell form the upper westbound deck to the lower eastbound deck prompted officials to remove all vehicles from the bridge. Initially the hope was to have the bridge re-open to traffic at 6 p.m.
