The 10-foot rover made contact with Mars after deploying down from a 70-foot parachute. The six-wheeled rover was designed to hunt for signs of life on Mars, and will begin doing so on Thursday. The rover will search for signs of life by the Jezero Crater, because it is believed to have been home to water. The mission cost $2.4 billion. The rover is able to remove stored samples and leave them around the crater. The mission is currently set to last at least 1 Martian year, which is equivalent to 2 earth years.
