The agency said the woman bloodied her hands, breaking the door to escape, then scaled a fence and flagged down a nearby motorist.
Negasi Zuberi, 29, faces federal charges that include interstate kidnapping.
James Dunn said he lived with Zuberi for several months after answering an online ad.
Dunn spoke with LiveNOW from FOX's Josh Breslow, as the FBI is urging people with information on Zuberi, as well as other victims, to come forward.
