14:46Now PlayingQueens, NY: Two NYPD officers were shot by a migrant early Monday morning shortly after 1:40 a.m. local time. Officers shot the suspect in the leg after the 19-year-old attempted to steal a moped.
Police say they were working to address a robbery pattern in the area of the shooting.
NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban said, 'they observed a male suspect driving a moped the wrong way and attempted to pull him over...The suspect then fled on food and officers began a foot pursuit, during the pursuit the suspect fired multiple rounds at our officers, who then returned fire.'
According to police, the suspect in a 19-year-old Venezuelan migrant who entered the U.S. back in 2023.
