12:33Now PlayingIran's newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian told his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron that his country will not stay quiet over "aggression" from Israel.
"Iran will never remain silent in the face of aggression against its interests and security," Pezeshkian told Macron during a phone call.
At the same time, Iran International reports that Pezeshkian also met with Iran's Supreme Leader and warned against a "direct" retaliatory attack on Israel, saying escalation could "devastate Iran's infrastructure and crippled Iran's economy," bringing about the country's collapse.
Israel is bracing for a major attack from Iran whose leadership has vowed revenge for last week's assassination of Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Israel has not claimed responsibility for Haniyeh's death, but did admit it was behind the strike in Beirut that killed Hezbollah's second-in-command, both of which happened within a matter of hours.
Some US and Israeli officials have said the Hezbollah terror group might actually launch a major attack against Israel before Iran does.
