Harris stated that politics should be put aside and to "put the people first." She also described the situation as "utterly irresponsible and selfish."
Meanwhile, DeSantis said he was unaware the vice president was trying to reach him.
“No. I didn’t know she called me,” DeSantis told reporters during an update on Hurricane Milton.
Governor DeSantis also said that President Biden called last week about Hurricane Helene, but he was traveling and unable to take the call. Helene ravaged the Southeastern U.S. late last month, killing at least 232 people.
Milton is currently forecast to make landfall in the Tampa area on Wednesday.
