as posted by the channelAfter Chicago Public Schools (CPS) initially claimed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents visited a Southwest Side elementary school, it was later confirmed that this was not the case.
Instead, U.S. Secret Service agents were investigating a threat linked to the TikTok ban.
According to CPS, two agents presented identification when they arrived at the school that included Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
CPS noted that the agency overseeing ICE also falls under DHS, leading to initial confusion.
Following protocol, school personnel contacted the district’s Law Department and Office of Safety and Security while keeping the agents outside.
The agents were not allowed inside the school and left their business cards with school staff. They did not speak with students or staff, and teaching continued uninterrupted.
