as posted by the channelNew York Governor Kathy Hochul released a statement Monday, saying she's asked key leaders to meet with her Tuesday about the path forward as it relates to the city of New York and Mayor Eric Adams. The news comes after multiple key aides to Adams announced their resignation this week. The Justice Department recently pushed to drop criminal charges against Adams. Over the last several days, there has been a cascade of lawmakers calling on Adams to step aside or for Hochul to remove him from office.
In a statement, Hochul said if the aides who resigned "feel unable to serve in City Hall at this time, that raises serious questions about the long-term future of this Mayoral administration." She added the "alleged conduct at City Hall that has been reported over the past two weeks is troubling and cannot be ignored." Hochul also noted she'll be monitoring the situation closely to ensure New Yorkers aren't shortchanged "by the current crisis in City government."
