ICE detainees escape: Local PD 'declined to assist,' officials say | LiveNOW from FOX

Police in Aurora, Colorado say two men escaped from a Denver area immigration detention center during a power outage on Tuesday. Immigration officials say when they reached out to local authorities for immediate help with the search, they declined to assist. Both men are facing criminal charges in Colorado. According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), “Two detainees escaped March 18 from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Denver Contract Detention Facility, in Aurora, Colorado. Local authorities were notified immediately and declined to assist with the search. ICE also notified additional state and federal law enforcement partners. The aliens are still at large and the search is ongoing." Meantime, police in Aurora said they weren’t notified until early Wednesday, about two hours after the men were discovered missing from the facility, which they said was too late to help. Local authorities gave a press conference on Thursday.
