Four people were injured Tuesday afternoon after a box truck struck pedestrians in downtown Boston. At least one person remains in critical condition, according to officials.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, BPD Commissioner Michael Cox and Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin R. Hayden said during a news conference the crash did not appear to be intentional at this time.
“This easily could have been a far worse circumstance, given the time of day and how many people tend to be in this area at the time,” District Attorney Hayden told reporters.
The truck was a yellow Penske rental truck and was out on rent to a commercial trucking company at the time of the incident, according to a statement from Penske.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
