2:26Now PlayingTwo people were killed in a shooting Thursday morning on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahasee, Florida, police said. Six people have been taken to the hospital, including the alleged gunman. Police said the alleged gunman has been identified and is believed to be a current FSU student.
FSU issued an active shooting alert around 12 p.m. on Thursday about a reported active shooter near the Student Union on campus.

"This event is tragic in more ways than you people in the audience could ever a phantom, from a law enforcement perspective. But I will tell you this. We will make sure that we do everything we can to prosecute and make sure that we send a message to folks that this will never be tolerated here in Leon County. And I dare say across the state and across this nation," Leon County Sheriff Walter McNeil said during a press conference.
FSU shooting 4:30PM update:
-2 people have been killed. Both are not believed to be students. Police did not elaborate further.
-5 people were taken to the hospital.
-The shooter was also taken to the hospital. Police said the alleged gunman is believed to be a current FSU student.
-The shooting happened around 11:58 a.m. in the vicinity of the Student Union.
-Gunman identified as 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, police said. He is believed to be a current FSU student and the son of a Leon County Sheriff's Office deputy.
-Police said the alleged gunman had access to guns in the home. A gun was recovered from the scene. He was also a long-standing member of the Leon County Sheriff's Office's Youth Advisory Council.
