Sen. Van Hollen held the briefing after landing back in the United States.
"That's why the Supreme Court, in a 9-0 decision, ordered the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Mr. Abrego Garcia," Sen. Van Hollen said. "Now, the Trump administration wants to flat-out lie about what this case is about, they want to change the subject, they want to make it about something else."
President Donald Trump is calling Sen. Van Hollen a "fool" after the legislator flew to meet with Abrego Garcia.
"Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland looked like a fool yesterday standing in El Salvador begging for attention from the Fake News Media, or anyone. GRANDSTANDER!!!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
