2:17Now PlayingCalifornia's Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom responded to President Donald Trump deploying National Guard Members to Los Angeles amid the protests and riots, calling it a "serious breach of state sovereignty." Hours after sending a letter, requesting the president remove the guard members, Gov. Newsom took to his X page, posting "Trump's border czar is threatening to arrest me for speaking out. Come and get me, tough guy. I don't give a damn. It won't stop me from standing up for California."
The deployment appears to be the first time in decades that a state's National Guard has been activated without a request from its governor. President Trump deployed about 2,000 National Guard members to the scene of the protests and riots, with about 300 arriving so far.
Governor Newsom said he will launch a lawsuit on the very issue on Monday.
