Magaziner joins LiveNOW’s Andy Mac as Democrats and Republicans play the blame game over a shutdown largely driven by disputes over healthcare funding.
The Republican-controlled House of Representatives had already passed a resolution that would extend federal funding. However, the Senate, where Republicans have majority control, failed to get the Democratic votes needed to pass their version.
"As I said, Democrats did not want a shutdown. We stand ready to work with Republicans to find a bipartisan compromise, and the ball is in their court," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said.
