We are learning more after the Federal Aviation Administration announced it would reduce air traffic by 10% across 40 "high volume" markets beginning this Friday. This comes after staffing shortages amid the ongoing government shutdown, which has now entered its 36th day, the longest in U.S. history. Here with LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall to share his pilot's perspective, is Mike Coffield, an Aviation Expert and former pilot.

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said the agency is not going to wait for a problem to act, saying the shutdown is causing staffing pressures and "we can’t ignore it." The shutdown has led to thousands of flight delays, economic losses exceeding $4 billion, and mounting pressure from airlines and industry groups for Congress to help fund the government.
