as posted by the channelAuthorities are investigating the death of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) professor Nuno Loureiro, a 47-year-old physicist and fusion scientist. He was shot Monday night at his apartment in Brookline, Massachusetts outside of Boston and died at a hospital, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said.
Loureiro joined MIT in 2016 and was named last year to lead MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center and was a professor of physics and nuclear science and engineering.
The killing came two days after a mass shooting on the campus of Brown University, about 50 miles away in Providence, Rhode Island.
