In a post shared on Monday on social media, President Trump said countries that continue to do business with the Islamic Republic of Iran would be hit with a 25% tariff on all trade with the United States. The announcement comes as tensions increase with Iran as the country entered its fourteenth day of large-scale protests and unrest in which hundreds of people have reportedly been killed.
Trump wrote, "Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America. This Order is final and conclusive. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
