The teacher’s family is calling the tragedy a prank gone wrong, adding that Hughes says he was excited to "catch" students involved in a prank and slipped in the rain before being struck by a vehicle.
Deputies say the teen driver faces vehicular homicide and reckless driving charges as the investigation continues.
