14:36Now PlayingWe are now hearing reports from U.S. Central Command who say that an F-35 fighter jet was forced to make an emergency landing after taking part in a combat operation over Iran. According to reporting from the Wall Street Journal, Capt. Tim Hawkins, a spokesman for the command that oversees the Middle East, said that the aircraft landed safely and the pilot was in “stable” condition. The exact cause of the incident is currently under investigation. LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall is speaking to Hal Kempfer, a retired Marine Intelligence Officer, after a statement from the Revolutionary Guard, broadcast by Iran's state TV, reported that the nation's air defense system struck and damaged an F-35 fighter jet.
According to the Congressional Research Service, the aircraft with stealth capabilities, is America’s most advanced fighter jet, costing up to $77 million a piece in 2023.
