2:54Now PlayingThe deadline for a planned strike on Iranian energy infrastructure has been extended by 10 days to April 6, according to President Donald Trump. "As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time," Trump wrote on social media. President Trump also added that ongoing talks with Iran were "going very well" as the new deadline approaches. This comes as Trump noted this week that the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil regularly flows, remains effectively closed because of the war.
We are also watching as Brent crude oil was trading at approximately $100 per barrel on Wednesday. This price drop was triggered by news of potential negotiations surrounding ongoing Middle East conflict. Despite the recent decline from its peak near $120 earlier last week, the price remains about 35% higher than it was at the beginning of the war.
