President Donald Trump and his Cabinet met on Wednesday to discuss escalating tensions and ongoing diplomatic negotiations with Iran. This comes as peace negotiations between the United States and Iran continue. President Trump was originally expected to assemble his Cabinet at Camp David, but the meeting was held at the White House because of expected bad weather.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has defeated longtime Senator John Cornyn in a heated primary runoff for the United States Senate. Paxton, a prominent ally of President Donald Trump, has now unseated the 20-year incumbent after Trump targeted Cornyn as "VERY disloyal" in the campaign's final days. Paxton now advances to the general election, where he will face Democratic state Representative James Talarico in a contest that could determine control of the Senate.

We are also watching as Matthew Perry's live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute ketamine to the actor, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Fox News is reporting that in addition to the three-year sentence, United States District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett also issued Iwamasa a $10,000 fine.
