The decision rejected a Republican-led attack on laws in more than half the states and the District of Columbia that permit mailed ballots to arrive and be counted some number of days after the election, provided they are postmarked by Election Day. The court's decision spares election officials having to change their ballot rules just a few months before the 2026 midterm congressional elections.
The U.S. Postal Service may not deliver mail-in ballots to states that refuse to release detailed voter lists to the Trump administration. According to Reuters, U.S. Postmaster General David Steiner confirmed the proposal at a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing last week. The proposal would require states to release to the Postal Service the names and barcodes tied to their mail-in ballots for federal elections, according to Reuters. It would also require states to provide unique barcodes on the outbound and return ballot envelopes.
The FIFA World Cup Round of 32 continues with three matches taking place in the U.S. and Mexico. Today's matches are Brazil vs Japan, Germany vs Paraguay, and the Netherlands vs Morocco. For 2026, the FIFA World Cup expanded to a 48-team tournament featuring 104 matches taking place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Bahrain and Kuwait were targeted in recent missile and drone attacks as Iran responds to recent U.S. airstrikes as Tehran threatened a "complete halt" to peace negotiations if Washington continued its assaults.
