Tascam DR05
DPA 4066 This is the mic I use for youtube videos and used once for a bike video. LOOK FOR USED ONES ON EBAY, THESE GO BROKEN FOR FIFTY BUCKS AND ARE AN AMAZING STEAL IF YOU CAN BEND IT BACK AND SOLDER A NEW PLUG!

The Zoom is not without its flaws, but it is at least competently designed.
1) The Zoom has a dedicated level knob, not this hitting buttons back and forth when in standby-record-mode garbage
2) The Zoom is not unnecessarily bulky
3) The Zoom works PROPERLY with an external microphone.
IMO, The Zoom is definitely worth the extra over the Tascam. I feel stupid for having purchased the Tascam because it was more immediately available as an impulse purchase.
