as posted by the channelRead the background & view the original land deed documents here
Taylor City Council sold a donated public park to a data center developer. T.J. Bland donated 87 acres of land to a public trust for $10 in 1999. the deed mandated the land be held in trust for a public park. the Taylor Economic Development Corporation took this land & sold it to a corporate developer for $10 million in 2025. Blueprint Projects is building a 135,000-square-foot data center with diesel backup generators on this property. It sits next to a residential neighborhood.
The city claims they can't stop the development because the land has "Employment Center" zoning. The "Halt Taylor Data Center Coalition" submitted a petition to amend the land development code to prohibit data centers from using these zoning rules.
The Taylor City Council will discuss this petition on their Regular Agenda this Thursday. I'll livestream the meeting & talk to residents.Meeting
