According to prosecutors, she struck her boyfriend, O'Keefe, with her SUV during a blizzard on January 29, 2022, after a night out drinking. It is alleged that Read came back to the scene hours later with two other women, where they found O'Keefe's body buried under the snow. She reportedly confessed to a first responder, stating, "I hit him," as claimed by the prosecution.
