Three of the four Massachusetts State Police Academy instructors charged in connection with the death of recruit Enrique Delgado-Garcia appeared before a judge on Thursday and were released on personal recognizance.
Investigators allege Delgado-Garcia died in 2024 after suffering a massive brain bleed during an unauthorized boxing exercise at the MA State Police Academy in New Braintree that was conducted under the supervision of the four troopers.
Sgt. Jennifer Penton and Troopers Edwin Rodriguez and David Montanez were scheduled to appeared in Worcester Superior Court at 2 p.m. All three are charged with involuntary manslaughter and causing serious bodily injury to a person participating in a physical training program.
The fourth Trooper Casey LaMonte is schedule to appear on April 14th.
