Former U.S. Space Force intelligence analyst Orest Schur has been sentenced to 54 years in prison after shooting at two unarmed teenagers in Aurora, Colorado — killing 14-year-old Xavier Kirk and wounding a 13-year-old boy.
👀 What happened:
▪️ Schur allegedly caught the teens trying to steal his wife’s car in July 2023.
▪️ As the boys fled, Schur fired 11 shots, striking them from behind.
▪️ Neither teen was armed.
▪️ Prosecutors argued Schur should have known better as a trained soldier.
💬 The case has sparked heated debate in Colorado and nationwide about self-defense, gun laws, and use of deadly force.
⚖️ Schur received 36 years for second-degree murder and 18 years for attempted murder. He faced up to 80 years but pleaded for mercy before sentencing.
