A robbery in Broward County escalated into a tragic situation that left an innocent bystander injured and a family devastated.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, William Forhan, 27, was the victim of a robbery in Pompano Beach, Florida, near the 1900 block of NE 24th Ave. After the incident, he reportedly pursued the suspect and fired multiple shots.
One of those bullets struck a nearby home, injuring a woman inside and killing her cat. The woman is expected to recover, but the incident has raised serious questions about the chain of events that followed the initial robbery.
The homeowner’s husband, who is currently battling cancer, described how the bullet came through their home while they were eating dinner, narrowly missing a major artery.
Forhan, identified by authorities, has now been charged with firing a missile into a building and culpable negligence causing harm. His bond was set at $60,000, according to officials.
The original robbery suspect remains at large, and authorities are asking the public for any information.
This case highlights how quickly a self-defense situation can escalate and the serious legal consequences that can follow.
