12:44Now PlayingWhen questioned about the situation in Gaza, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that there is no evidence of genocide being committed by Israel. However, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Wednesday that the death toll among Palestinians has reached 33,482 due to ongoing Israeli attacks, with 76,049 people injured and many more missing since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
In response to the death toll, South Africa filed a case against Israel with the Court of International Justice (ICJ), accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza against the Palestinian people, which violates the Genocide Convention. On January 26, 2024, the ICJ issued an order directing Israel to take measures to prevent any acts of genocide in Gaza, including ensuring that Israeli individuals do not engage in or incite such acts.
Furthermore, the ICJ ruling mandates that Israel address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, aiming to improve conditions in the region.
