6:33Now PlayingIn a recent episode of the "We In Miami" (@WeInMiamiPodcast) podcast, rapper and music producer Benzino stated that R&B music icon R. Kelly deserved a second chance, and didn't deserve to rot in prison for 30 years.
Last year, a judge sentenced Kelly to 20 years in prison in his Chicago federal child sex crimes case. 19 of those years will be served along with his 30-year sentence in a 2022 New York sex trafficking and racketeering case, along with one additional year in prison.
Benzino believes that R. Kelly is being treated unfairly, saying that Kelly's molestation as a child should've been taken into account for his crimes and sentencing.
Frida, a federal appeals court rejected R. Kelly's appeal to vacate the 20-year conviction in Chicago. Kelly's attorney says they will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to review Friday's decision. Kelly is also appealing his New York conviction.
