23:21Now PlayingOn Friday, May 3, 2024, Marc Lamont Hill spoke with students are Rutgers University in New Jersey.
This comes one day after students at Rutgers University in New Brunswick struck a deal with the school's administration to end their student encampment, in exchange for 8 of 10 demands.
According to a university statement, some of those terms include accepting at least 10 displaced Gazan students to study at the university on a scholarship and hiring additional professors who specialize in Palestine and Middle Eastern studies.
The university says, "This agreement opens the door for ongoing dialogue and better addresses the needs of our Arab, Muslim, and Palestinian student body, which numbers over 7,000."
The number one demand was for the university to cut ties with Israel. The university says, "Such decisions fall outside of our administrative scope." The university adds, "Following our established university policies, the divestment request is under review."
