as posted by the channelThe Boy Scouts of America announced that it will change its name to "Scouting America" starting next year. Leaders in the organization say the change will make it more "inclusive".
Girls ages 7-10 have been able to join the organization's Cub Scouts program since 2018, and girls against 11-17 were able to join the organization in 2019. To date, more than 175,000 young women and girls are in the organization.
The change will be official on the 115th anniversary on February 8, 2025.
This name change comes months after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the Boy Scouts of America's $2.46 billion settlement with sexual abuse victims to move forward. There was a temporary pause on the settlement after 144 former scouts opposed the agreement.
