In a 6-3 decision, the court overturned a previous ruling that deemed the map unconstitutional. Justice Samuel Alito, in the majority opinion, emphasized the necessity for plaintiffs to distinguish between racial and partisan motivations in challenging redistricting maps. He also stated a presumption of good faith on the legislature's part when assessing their actions. This decision makes it harder for future potential plaintiffs to sue for racial gerrymandering.
