A video posted on Facebook by Tavis Williams has gone viral, showing two Lakeland Police officers violently arresting a 16-year-old boy. The footage reveals the officers beating the teen, tasing him, and placing a knee on his neck. The incident, which occurred on Sunday around 6 p.m., has sparked outrage and an internal review by the Lakeland Police Department.
The boy was charged with trespassing, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest with violence. The police claim the officers were responding to a call about unauthorized pool use at an apartment complex. According to the arrest affidavit, the teen refused to provide identification and resisted arrest.
Lakeland Police Department's Public Information Officer Stephanie Kerr confirmed to NewsOne the involvement of their officers and stated that no further comments will be made until the review is completed.
